When I was 12, I would always squat in the corner of my mother’s tailor shop, watching her measure fabrics with a faded soft tape measure. As her fingertips glided across the cotton cloth, she would say softly, “Good fabrics can ‘breathe,’ and good clothes have warmth.” Back then, the hum of the sewing machine became my earliest memory of “clothing.”

When I studied international trade in college, I noticed there were far too many “fast-food-style” clothes on the market—mass-produced and identical, yet lacking the “warmth” my mother had spoken of. After starting work, I traveled to fabric markets across 13 countries, from wool workshops in Italy to hand-dyeing factories in India. Gradually, I came to understand that foreign trade shouldn’t just be about “selling goods”; it’s about bringing together craftsmanship and needs from different cultures.

Carrying the soft tape measure passed down by my mother, I founded islelite. What we want to do is turn the dedication I felt as a child into trust that transcends national borders—so that every piece of clothing leaving our hands carries a story and can stand the test of time.
